Output Style Instructions

 

QuikBib strives for accuracy in all output styles. We recommend verifying that there are no new style instructions before submitting your paper.  Always check your reference list for accuracy.

References should be numbered consecutively in the order in which they are first mentioned in the text.

 

Authors:

If there is no author in a reference QuikBib will substitute the title. Authors should be entered last name first follow by a space and the first and middle initial followed by a comma.  The last author name should be followed by a period.  Only six authors should be listed.  If more than six, show the first 3 followed by et al.

 

Titles:

Capitalize the first letter of each major word in titles and subtitles.  Do not capitalize articles, prepositions of 3 or fewer letters, coordinating conjunctions or the “to” in infinitives.  Do capitalize a two letter verb, such as “Is”.

 

Periodical Titles:

Use abbreviated journal names for the periodical – following the Index Medicus guidelines. 

 

Periodical Issue:

This field is required only in the absence of a DOI number.

 

Pages:

This field is required only in the absence of a DOI number.

 

URL and Retrieved Date:

These fields are required only in the absence of a DOI number.

 

DOI:

This field is required when a DOI is provided.

 

Publisher:

Publisher name should be abbreviated in accordance with AMA style (see ch. 11.7 of AMA manual), but without punctuation.

Periodical Volume and Issue:

Use abbreviated journal names for the periodical – following the Index Medicus guidelines. 

 

If the periodical is paginated by issue, meaning that every issue of the volume begins with page 1, then include the issue. If the periodical has continuous pagination, meaning that each issue continues the pagination where the previous issue left off, the issue may be omitted.
